THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN
DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS
Lecturer/Assistant Professor of Instruction
The Department of Mathematics at The University of Texas at Austin has openings for a number of non-tenure-track (Lecturer/Assistant Professor of Instruction) teaching positions to begin Fall 2025. Primary duties are teaching undergraduate courses, and a full-time load consists of three courses per long semester.
These are one-year positions with the possibility of renewal subject to performance and departmental needs. The number of positions depends on enrollment, so continued employment is not guaranteed. However, successful Lecturers/Assistant Professors of Instruction are routinely renewed from year to year. The starting salary for full-time teaching load over Fall and Spring semesters is $54,000 with health and retirement benefits.
A Ph.D. in mathematical sciences is required, although the rare exception may be made for applicants with special technical qualifications desired by the department. Previous teaching experience at the university level, commitment to quality teaching and good communication skills are also required. Special consideration may be given to applicants with experience and/or interest in working on course coordination/development, advising and other departmental needs. In addition, we seek candidates who contribute to diversity and equal opportunity within higher education through their teaching and service.
Applicant Instructions
Complete applications will consist of a cover letter, a current CV, and a statement detailing teaching experience, as well as three letters of recommendation addressing teaching ability. All letters should be submitted directly to the department by the referee. Interested candidates should apply in Interfolio (when available).
A background check and employment eligibility verification will be conducted on the applicant selected.
