The main goal of the talk will be introducing the result of my research project with Anthony Conway. I will briefly introduce the different perspectives of Alexander polynomials and their twisted variants. The twisted Alexander polynomial has been studied recently for many reasons including sliceness obstructions, relations with Thurston norm, and fiberedness of 3-manifolds, etc. I will introduce one of the fundamental results on Alexander polynomials, Torres formula, and generalize it to the twisted setting using Reidemeister torsion and homological calculations.
