Extra problem: (solve this problem before you work out problem 20 and 21) Let Y and Y be independent Bernoulli(1/2) random variables, and define Z=0 if X=Y or Z=1 if X is different from Y. Show that X, Y and Z are pairwise independent, but are not independent as a group of random variables. (Note: This is identical to example 1.6.8 , now stated in the language of random variables!)
Use the solution of this problem to answer problem 20.
